Foundational Play: An Evening of Poetry with S M Van De Kamp
Thursday April 25
7:30-9:00 pm
Are you a poet? Are you curious about poetry? In this light-hearted and accessible workshop we’ll play with the foundational elements of the form (rhyme, stanzas, subjects, etc), discuss the history of the genre, and participate in a variety of prompts including some that will be collaborative. This is not about creating something perfect -- it's about play!
Each participant will leave with at least three poems, a notebook for future use, and hopefully a big infusion of creative community.
S M Van de Kamp is a queer, LA-based writer who has published poetry, fiction, and creative non-fiction work in journals such as Beacon Quarterly, Woman Cave Journal, Dream Boy Book Club, and Metatron Press. They are the host of a monthly literary salon titled A SALON, the creator and editor of the Dear ___ Zine publication, and the founder of the project Wait,This Is Poetry (@wait.thisispoetry), an account focused on breaking down stringent preconceptions of what poetry should be. They have performed their work internationally ♥️
