Santavanitas The Chapter XX 18kt Gold-plated Necklace
Santavanitas, from Spanish designer Pilar Cano Romero, is an intensely story-driven labor of love, with each piece uniquely representing and commentating on a keen observation of our lives and humanity.
The story of the XX Chapter necklace is created from the perspective of our surreal shared experience of 2020. The chain holds 14 baroque pearls as symbol of each day of the confinement that made us rethink our whole world again. Delicate but strong, each nacre layer in every pearl is a phase in the healing process.
From the chain hangs a charm depicting a Phoenix being reborn from its ashes. The charm has an infinite link that allows to remove the piece or to move it through the chain as desired. Each of us has our own timing and this necklace represents the control of our own rhythm.
The Phoenix is one of the most ancient figures of mythology, and has analogues in many different cultures. The Phoenix obtains new life by arising from the ashes of its predecessor andsymbolises rebirth and resurrection. As a powerful spiritual totem, the Phoenix is the ultimate symbol of strength and renewal.
Mixing past and future, every piece is designed from the latest 3D techniques and crafted by local artisans through the old process of lost wax casting. The process is slow and the productions are small, but always responsible, sustainable and human. Pilar wanted to create a brand that is rooted in a purpose beyond aesthetics, contemporary heirlooms that make the wearer feel empowered, protected, stronger. Masculine and feminine, both are always present in Pilar’s personal aesthetics, for her there are no divisions.
